As many of you have already heard we will be having a national mail count the last 2 weeks of September 2011. Here are some important dates. Count starts Sept, 17th and ends Sept.30th. Precount conferences have to be done by close of business Sept 2, 2011. Count schools will be set up throughout the state and a list will be published and also sent to all members at a later time.
Second issue: We are still having some problems with timeliness of the 4003′s. If you encounter any delays please contact a steward.
Next issue: District has initiated of re-initiated the use of the verification logs to insure you and the PM or supervisor, have checked your vehicle and equipment for mail. If you are required to due this then it qualifies for 8127 time. They will also start up inspections of the carriers’ vehicle. Now remember if you are told to go out and unlock the door for inspection do as your told, but remember to stand and watch the person inspecting, and relock the car. It is your right. This time is 8127 time. If they check the car while you are loading or unloading and cause you to be delayed or interfere with your loading/unloading then this qualifies for 8127 time also. ( remember any time under 60 minutes can be done on the time card) If they want to walk around and look through the windows of the locked car that is perfectly fine and does not require any 8127 time.
